The narwhals prey consiste of primarly greenland halibut, polar and artic cod, cuttlefish, shrimp, and gonatus squid. because of the lack well developed dentition in the mouth they are known to get close to the prey and suck them up with powerful force. they have flexible necks that give the them the ability to scan broad areas for prey.
